New Mexico Mission Trip - December 7th,
2008
It all began with a great Service Sunday morning with a
Baptismal Service and a wonderful Christmas Dinner. Truly the
Spirit of the Lord was in His House.
As Darlene, Debbie and I made the journey from Verdunville to
Columbus, Ohio in preparation for our early flight, many
emotions went through my heart and mind. I feel that I am
blessed to have the best congregation that any pastor could
want. All ages were involved in the Christmas dinner we had
right after Sunday School. Not just in eating after
Worship, but in true Fellowship. I began to reflect on our
visitors and their comments on the sermon the Holy Spirit gave
me entitled " Sacrifice." Their responses and words of
encouragement were very uplifting. Then to hear the congregation
with their encouraging comments telling me to "Stay the course,"
and "Keep preaching the way you are."
We finally arrived around 6 PM at the motel Sunday Night. After
sorting a few electrical cords and gadgets, I made several
phone calls and answered emails. The wind chill of Columbus made
me appreciate the weather we were having in Logan.
So, around 4:30 am on Monday morning we began our journey,
loading what seemed to be a ton of luggage and wresting
with the elevator doors. Once again were headed out into the
chilly air of the North.
We again went through the standard procedures of checking in at
the airport. AH! Just as I thought, I had overloaded
one suitcase, so we scrambled to put items in another that did
not weigh as much. Finally, after many hours, we boarded a small
cramped and crowded aircraft. God mercifully saw us safely to
Houston. After walking what seemed ten miles with Darlene and
Debbie by my side we arrived at our gate.. Final Destination...
Albuquerque, New Mexico!
Another crowed flight, but again God graciously gave us a safe
flight. As Darlene and Debbie awaited the luggage, I crept
off into the city to find a rental car... We are off heading To
Gallup! What did we find when we arrived? Two excited
missionaries from Verdunville Church of God - Harold and
Laverne. Not only that, we found homemade biscuits, steak
and gravy, mashed potatoes, peas, macaroni and cheese!
Well, I better stop or you all won't think we were on a
mission trip!
Thank you each for your prayers, contributions, and
donations: We begin tomorrow preparing for the events of this
week. It has been 19 hrs. at the writing of this blog, but the
body is saying REST! LOL!!! I will send more of our
journeys tomorrow.
Blessings from New Mexico!
Pastor, Darlene and Debbie
